I built a career in electrical and industrial engineering, chemistry, and software for over 15 years, but I never thought I’d make serving the knife world into a business.
I’ve loved pocket knives since receiving my first Victorinox at age 5, but I never thought I’d make serving the knife world into a business. I built a career in electrical and industrial engineering, chemistry, and software for over 15 years. During that time, I grew a modest knife collection that included a few favorites from the makers you know and love, but I was completely unsatisfied with the options on the market for pocket knife lubricants.
Having spent time examining and creating lubricant technologies, I knew what was possible, so I set out to create the perfect knife-focused lubricant.
I wanted something that was:
Made for Knives
Pocket knives are unique in that they are exposed to tons of harmful contaminants, salts, and abrasive particles on a daily basis.
Smoother than anything on the Market
Knife Pivot Lube makes knives feel and operate better instantly.
Knife Pivot Lube prevents abrasive damage to bearings, washers and races, and stops rust and corrosion cold.
Our lube is synthesized from the ground up and blended to incorporate contaminant encapsulation technology, corrosion inhibitors, and wickability modifiers tuned to work perfectly on pocket knives.
Family Owned & Operated
Even with my chemistry and engineering background, it took a year of development and testing to formulate the perfect knife lubricant. Once I had it, I felt like I had to share it with the knife community.
KPL was born in 2018, and the amazing knife community adopted it as the premier knife lube immediately. I was thrilled people loved KPL as much as I did!
KPL also launched at a fortunate time for my family. By 2018, I was suffering from the long-term consequences of four major surgeries to my neck and shoulder after having a tumor removed from my upper cervical spine in 2012. I had lost the ability to use my dominant hand for anything but the most trivial of tasks, and desk work was getting to be extremely difficult.
Thanks to the knife community’s amazing support, after three years of hard work, I turned myself full-time to KPL where I’ve teamed up with my wife Lindi (our graphic designer and business genius) to make knives better everywhere.
